About These Workshops
These FREE one-day workshops are designed for parents who have a child with a condition that is responsive to early intervention and who are in the early years before school.
If you are in the early days of the journey with your child with hearing impairment then these workshops are for you.
The workshops will help you to:
- understand how Better Start or NDIS funding works
- learn more about the services and supports available to you and your child with hearing impairment
- meet other parents who have a child with a disability and who have similar experiences to you
- build confidence and develop positive strategies
The session will be relaxed and semi-informal, allowing you to share your experiences and learn from others.
The workshops typically run from 9.30am till 2.30pm, with lunch provided. NOTE that some workshops have a later start time or are run over two shorter session on different days.
Who Can Attend
While parents are especially welcome to attend, we understand that a range of people can play a vital role in the life of a child with a disability. Therefore, the First Steps Workshops are open to all those adults closest to the child. Who these people are in your child's life only you can know, so we will leave it to decide who you would like to bring along. When you register we just ask that you let us know how many people you would like to invite, whether they be family members or friends of you and your child.
Can I Bring My Child?
We really want to make this a time for you, so if you can do so we encourage you to come without your child. However, we understand that life isn't always that simple, so if you can only come if your child comes with you, then you are very welcome to bring them.
We do not have the funding to pay for childcare for your child.
